- Language preferences: your native language and the language you are learning.
- Learning content: flashcard collections, vocabulary words, and chat messages you create within the App.

1.2 Information Generated by Your Use

- Usage metadata: timestamps and session data used to improve your learning experience.
1.3 Information Collected Automatically
- We do not use tracking pixels or third-party behavioral analytics. We do not collect device or usage analytics ourselves.
- The App may show ads (e.g. via Google AdMob). Ad serving and related data are handled by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and Google's ad practices.
- Our other third-party providers (e.g. Supabase, or the app store from which you downloaded the App) may process technical or device-related data in accordance with their own privacy policies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features.
- Personalize your learning experience (e.g., generating flashcards and AI chat responses relevant to your language and level).
- Synthesize and cache text-to-speech audio in the language you are learning.
- Translate the App's user interface into your native language.
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
- Improve and develop new features of the App.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
3. Third-Party Services
Converso uses the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy and terms of service:
Supabase
We use Supabase (supabase.com) for secure user authentication, database storage of your account data and learning content, and cloud storage of synthesized audio files. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified. Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure; the region depends on our project configuration (e.g. United States or other supported regions).
OpenAI
We use the OpenAI API (openai.com) to power the AI language coach, generate flashcard content, and translate the App interface. Your conversation messages and learning context are sent to OpenAI's servers to generate responses. OpenAI does not use data submitted via the API to train its models by default. Please review OpenAI's Privacy Policy at openai.com/privacy.
Google Cloud Text-to-Speech
We use the Google Cloud Text-to-Speech API to synthesize audio pronunciations of words and phrases. Text you request to hear is sent to Google's servers for synthesis. Please review Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Google AdMob
We may show ads in the App via Google AdMob. Google may collect or use data for ad delivery and measurement in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and ad settings. You can manage ad preferences at adssettings.google.com. Subscribers to Converso Premium do not see ads.
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we will ask for your consent before showing personalized ads. You can review or withdraw your ad consent at any time via Settings → Privacy & cookie settings within the App.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Synthesized audio files are cached to reduce API costs and improve performance; they are retained indefinitely until you delete your account or we purge the cache.
If you delete your account, we permanently delete all of your personal data, including your profile, conversation history, flashcard collections, and any associated audio cache, within 30 days. Account deletion is irreversible.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data at any time through Settings → Delete Account within the App.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can delete the information.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted storage, secure HTTPS transmission, and server-side API key management. AI and TTS API keys are never exposed to the client app. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our third-party service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to such transfers. We take appropriate steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; request deletion of your personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information to third parties. To make a request, contact us via the feedback form below.
