Terms of Service

Welcome to Converso. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Converso mobile application ("App") operated by Converso ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are 13 years of age or older. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms.

We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts. If we discover that a user is under 13, we will immediately delete their account and all associated data.

2. Account Registration

To access certain features of the App, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
• Maintain and promptly update your account information.
• Keep your password confidential and not share it with third parties.
• Notify us immediately via the feedback form if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that have been inactive for an extended period, with or without notice.

3. Use of the App

3.1 Permitted Use

You may use the App for your personal, non-commercial language learning purposes. The App is designed to help you learn new languages through AI-powered conversation, flashcard practice, and text-to-speech pronunciation.

3.2 Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, other users' accounts, or our third-party service providers.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the App.
• Reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works of the App or its content without our prior written consent.
• Use the App to transmit harmful, offensive, harassing, or otherwise objectionable content.
• Misuse the AI features to generate content that is illegal, abusive, or violates third-party rights.
• Attempt to circumvent our usage limits, rate limits, or cost controls.
• Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the App.

4. AI-Generated Content

The App uses artificial intelligence (powered by OpenAI) to generate educational content, including flashcards, conversation responses, vocabulary suggestions, and UI translations. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated content may occasionally contain inaccuracies, errors, or inappropriate material.
• AI-generated language learning content is provided for educational purposes and should not be relied upon as a definitive or professional language reference.
• We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated content.
• You are responsible for verifying important information with authoritative sources.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you create within the App, including flashcard collections and conversation messages ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and transmit your User Content solely to provide the App's services to you.

You represent and warrant that your User Content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law. We reserve the right to remove User Content that violates these Terms.

6. Intellectual Property

The App and its original content (excluding User Content), features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Converso and its licensors. The Converso name, logo, and all related marks are trademarks of Converso.

Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use our trademarks, logos, domain names, or other distinctive brand features without our prior written consent.

7. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including Supabase (data storage and authentication), OpenAI (AI language features), and Google Cloud (text-to-speech). Your use of the App is also subject to the applicable terms and privacy policies of these third-party providers.

We are not responsible for the practices or content of any third-party services. Links or integrations with third-party services do not constitute our endorsement of those services.

8. Subscriptions and Payments

The App offers an optional auto-renewable subscription ("Converso Premium") that removes advertisements. By subscribing, you agree to the following:

• Subscription title: Converso Premium — Remove Ads
• Billing period: Monthly
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price.
• You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions) or through the App under Settings → Manage Subscription.
• No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods, except where required by applicable law.
• Free trials, if offered, will convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless cancelled beforehand.

Prices are displayed in your local currency on the purchase screen and may vary by region. All purchases are processed by Apple. By purchasing a subscription, you also agree to Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA), available at:

9. Account Deletion and Data

You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Delete Account within the App. Upon deletion, all of your personal data, conversation history, flashcard collections, and associated content will be permanently and irreversibly deleted. We cannot recover deleted accounts.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, THAT ANY ERRORS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE APP IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL CONVERSO BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $10.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Converso and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms or your use of the App.

13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the App and delete your account.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in California.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Converso regarding your use of the App and supersede any prior agreements.
